The Paris Edition: There are dozens, it seems, of such publications and new ones are always appearing. I'll mention some that I have used. Art Buch-wald's Paris After Dark (Art is a prolific and knowledgeable columnist in the Paris edition of the New fork Herald Tribune) is an earthy classic. He lists about 120 restaurants of distinction but does not forget also to give us a couple of dozen "good restaurants at two dollars or less."
NEWSPAPERS and MAGAZINES in English are available in ne all European capitals and important tourist centers. The New fork Her-1 aid Tribune has a Paris-published edition which has been popular through! out Europe for decades. Its world coverage is always full and very read! able and its advertisements and travel counsels are often as interest! as its news. The New York Times has an International Air Edition i sale in Paris the day after its New York issue and generally found a: hours later in other big centers. The Daily American, published by: American owners in Rome, is a tabloid, not in the class with the da mentioned above but well worth buying in Italy (and Greece). Tin Life, Newsweek and the Readers Digest are the American big four of I magazine field, so far as European kiosks are concerned, but the Saturd Evening Post, Holiday, Look and other magazines are to be had in i chief cities. London newspapers and illustrated magazines are also av able all over Europe.
But Robinson produced quantities of art-photographs: he published one every year. His influence was even more strongly felt through his prolific writing. The book, a handy manual for the production of art-photographs, was based on academic rules of composition. |
