From the Venetians he learned much of their mastery of color, so that when he settled in London in 1753 his work showed the influence of Correggio, with reminiscences of Tintoretto, Veronese, and Titian.
Subject matter, as you can see for yourself by studying the magazine stands, runs heavily to beautiful girls, charming babies, children and pets. Study the magazines (the importance of such study cannot be overemphasized) and you'll see that most of the covers conform to a pattern or formula, and you'll be wise to make your pictures conform to this.
The magazines want originality, and will pay well for new ideas, but the originality must not be so great as to violate the formula.
First thing you'll notice in your study is that the ideas are| really very simple, after all. This is not because the photogpinup picture or portrait of a really beautiful girl; a good portrait of a charming baby; a good pseudo-candid shot of a child with a pet; a good action shot, are all good cover material.
