Rock-steady Camera:

Rock-steady Camera Perhaps the next larger stop opening will let in enough more light to record the detail desired in the shaded parts. If you are using a small stop to gain depth of field, a slow automatic exposure such as }{<> second or a very short time exposure will yield an excellent negative. Obviously, such slow exposures will require a rock-steady Camera support.

The best Camera for shooting windows is a 4 x 5 view, equipped with a full set of lenses (always use the longest focal length lens which your choice of viewpoint will permit), but almost any Camera with a sharp lens can be made to suffice. I know of a young woman photographer who makes a steady income shooting window displays with a Rolleiflex; store managers think her pictures are terrific.

The movement of the earth's crust may carry the rock as much as 700km (454 miles) below the surface. Here the temperature and pressure will be even higher and the rock will begin to melt. Molten rock is lighter than solid rock and it will begin to rise up through the overlying rock towards the surface. If it reaches the surface as a lava flow it will immediately be ready for weathering and erosion and the start of a new cycle. More often the molten rock solidifies underground and then all the rock above it must be eroded away before it can begin the cycle again.
