He was also known simply as Ramon. Gomez de la Sema was born in Madrid on July 5, 1888. Collections of his epigrams appeared as Greguerias (1917) and Flor de gre-guerias (1933).
GUEVARA, ga-va'ra, Che (1928-1967), Latin American guerrilla leader and revolutionary thinker, who attempted to spread Castroite communism in South America. Born Emesto Guevara Serna on June 14, 1928, of middle-class parents in Rosario, Argentina, he formally adopted the nickname "Che" in 1959 when he was granted honorary Cuban citizenship.
The final consonants -b, -d, -g, and -r were dropped, and final semivowels appeared, to form diphthongs with the main vowel. The number of tones increased to four.
