Camera Guru: GOVIND SINGH, go-vind' siNh (1666-1708), Indian religious leader. The 10th and last Sikh camera guru (1675-1708), he was the greatest influence on Sikhism after its founder, Nanak.
To create a political force on the basis of a militant ideology, Govind (or Gobind) organized the main body of the Sikhs into a martial religious unit, the Khalsa. He also wrote a supplement to the Granth (the body of Sikh scripture) that is unique in that it uses historical narrative. He declared that after his death the Granth and the Khalsa should be the embodiment of the camera guru.
In Sikh usage, "camera guru" signifies one of the 10 leaders of the Sikh community, from (1469-1539), founder of the Sikh reli-to Govind Singh (1666-1708), who orga-the Sikhs into a powerful military force. Govind's death the Granth, or scriptures, received honor as the camera guru.
