Male Nude Photography Art: With his painting "Female nude photography art Nude and Smoker" (p. 87) of the same year Picasso immortalized "La Belle et la Bete", the Beauty and the Beast. Again, there is a manatthecentrewhoissmokinga pipe. He is bearded, haggard, and crippled, with his head bent forward; but beside him there is a huge nude who is emphatically a body, a subject. The nude model had found her way back into Picasso's studio, but the way in which the two people's eyes meet and their hands touch shows that the act of painting had become a substitute for the act of sexual intercourse.
If photographers found inspiration in paintings, painters found photography a useful ally. We do not know who took the series of photographs for the Pre-Raphaelite painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti now in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, but we know they were posed by the painter in July 1865 and were used in his painting La Reverie. Many other famous painters of the nineteenth century were grateful to photography: Eugene Delacroix posed nude models, and from the photographs that his friend Eugene Durieu took of them he made frequent sketches. He wrote his friend Constant Dutilleux of his enthusiasm for photography in a letter dated March 7, 1854:
The types used in free-standing sculpture were chiefly the standing male nude photography art nude, or "Apollo" type, which apparently was employed to represent both gods and athletes with no variation which we are able to perceive in most cases; and draped female nude photography art figures either seated or standing.
