London Charivari:

London Charivari PUNCH, punch, a well-known English comic weekly, the most famous journal of the kind. The success of Charles Philipon's Paris Charivari induced a staff of several Englishmen—some, as Douglas William Jerrold, William Makepeace Thackeray, and John Leech, later famous—to organize for the publication of a London Charivari, of which whole pages of text had been set up when the scheme collapsed. This undertaking had, however, some indirect influence on the subsequent Punch.

Grandville's political cartoons, published in Charles Philipon's satirical weekly La Caricature and later in Le Charivari, were very popular and devastatingly critical of the government of Louis Philippe. Grandville's contributions to the Mag-asin Pittoresque also exposed the ridiculous in the social order of his times. He died at Vanves, a suburb of Paris, on March 17, 1847.

They either have been completed in the last year or have planning permission, so together they present a realistic view of future London - a snapshot of the work of contemporary architects. The 'London Wall' is arranged by London Borough to illustrate how change is affecting local communities as well as the wider metropolis. Prefabulous London will explain why modern house types can answer the need for new homes in the capital.
