Kodak Pola-screen:

Kodak Pola-screen Like filters, the Pola-Screen has its greatest effect on a clear blue sky. The result can be judged visually through the Pola-Screen, but maximum effect can be assured by merely pointing the indicator -handle on the rim directly at the sun. The Kodak Pola-Screen is also useful in photographing obliquely through glass or water to show detail beyond or below the reflecting surfaces; for subduing oblique reflections which hide surface details, in order to show texture or pattern; and for architectural work. For a comparison of results obtained with various filters, see the following two pages.

In black-and-white picture making, control of sky tone by the Pola-Screen is often preferable to control by a filter. For example, the use of a red "A" Filter to produce a dark sky behind a flag seriously distorts the colors of the flag. The Pola-Screen, on the other hand, darkens the sky just as much but does not affect the flag rendering. In certain cases the A Filter and Pola-Screen can be used together in daylight exposures to produce a night effect.
