Corvette In History Will Get: 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Pace Car: The fastest production Corvette in history will get a chance to flex its muscles by pacing the 2006 Indianapolis 500 field on May 28. This 198-mph aluminum-frame sports car, with its booming 7-liter engine, is just about fast enough to be in the Indy 500 field itself, and receives few modifications to prepare for Indy 500 Pace Car duties. It makes its World debut at the LA show.
“We tried to make it as simple as we could as well as practical,” Borghi said. “It was a lot of work.”
It took one year to build “The Mausoleum,” as it's nicknamed, and now it houses a 1914 Model T Ford, 1921 Model T Ford, 1935 Chevrolet coupe, 1940 Chevrolet coupe and a 1966 Corvette Stingray.
