Central New York: central new york PARK, in New York City, comprises an oblong area in the center of Manhattan, from West 59th Street to West 110th Street and from Fifth Avenue to central new york Park West. Surrounded by apartment buildings, it is New York City's most popular park. It is third in size among the city's parks, extending 2l/2 miles (4 km) from north to south and V2 mile (0.8 km) from east to west. Of its 840 acres (340 hectares), 150 acres (61 hectares) are water.
County, situated at an altitude of 545 feet, on the Illinois central new york and New York central new york railroads, 24 miles north-northwest of Vincennes, Ind. The city is the trading center for an area producing oil and raising corn, wheat, poultry, and livestock. Its industrial establishments include oil refineries and plants manufacturing oil well equipment, china, pottery, and caskets. It has a Carnegie library, a hospital, and a sanatorium.
The American Telephone and Telegraph Co. demonstrated its new video telephone set and announced that commercial service would be inaugurated in the early 1970s. A trial installation of 40 sets at various locations in New York and Pittsburgh was announced for September 1968. Commercial service using an earlier version of the set has been available among three central new york locations in New York, Chicago, and Washington. |
