Candid Camera:

Candid Camera It helps to get the candid effect if you will tell everyone, repeating the words until you're tired of them, to pay no attention whatever to you and the Camera but to proceed as if you were not there at all. For vivid pictures, you will, of course, need a Camera equipped with synchronized flash for evening and indoor affairs.

For the most adequate wedding coverage, it is almost a necessity to have your Camera equipped for synchronized flash and a portable speedlight is a wonderful aid. If you are to specialize in wedding pictures, you can make good use of two cameras, one a 4 x 5 press type for the posed pictures and some of the impromptu shots, and the other either a 35mm or twin-lens reflex, also equipped with flash, for the candid shots. You can get along nicely, however, with either a press type Camera or twin-lens reflex alone.

Then tell the principal that you wish to serve the school as much as possible during the school year. But don't wait for the school officials to call upon you for pictures, because unless they are unusually picture-minded they will not feel the need for them, nor even see the possibilities as readily as you will. Take your candid Camera with you every time you go to the campus and shoot unposed pictures of anything you see which intrigues you or looks typical of school life. File all these shots for future reference.
