British Museum In 1853: RALSTON, ral'ston, William Ralston Shedden-, English Russian scholar: b. London, pril 4, 1828; d. there, Aug. 6, 1889. He was he son of W. P. Ralston Shedden and educated it Cambridge. During the period of his college 'ears his father entered upon a litigation to ob-ain possession of some Ayrshire property and n this effort dissipated his whole fortune. The iame of Shedden becoming somewhat notorious i connection with the suit, the son adopted the dditional surname of Ralston; and obtained a ost at the British Museum in 1853. He gave is attention to the study of Russian, a language :ien little known.
